Invoice is sent to collections
Check this box to automatically mark a patients’ account as delinquent. If an adjustment to a claim is of type ‘Send to Collections’ the patients account will be automatically marked as delinquent.
Prompt user
Check this box to be prompted before an account is marked as delinquent.
Disallow appointment
Check this box to alert the user prior to scheduling an appointment for a delinquent account.
Hide % Covered field
This setting corresponds to the % Covered field shown on the payments and adjustments screen. Check this box to show the % covered field. If you uncheck the box, then MDC will assume that the Payer payment is equal to 100% of the allowed amount.
Show Check Date Field
Checking this box will give you an additional date field (Date on Check)when posting payments. If you do not show the check date field, then the check date is assumed to by the same as the posting date.
When posting insurance payments, prompt user before a claim is transferred to the secondary payer
Check this box if you want to know and confirm when a claim is being transferred to the secondary payer. This will occur automatically when the primary pays on a claim and the patient has secondary. If you record ERA’s from the payer register, you should check this box. Otherwise claims that have multiple charges will be immediately sent to the secondary payer’s register after the payment/adjustment for the first charge of the claim. You will want to keep the claim in the primary’s register so you can match subsequent ERA’s for a particular claim. For more information, go to the section on transferring to secondary.
Disallow patient blanket payment to be applied to claims waiting on insurance
Check this box if you do not want patient blanket payments to be applied to claims that are still waiting on a response from insurance. This can happen if you apply a blanket patient payment to a claim. If the payment exceeds the balance of a claim then MDC will distribute the payment to all open claims in the patient register. If there is a balance after all claims are paid then the remaining payment amount is recorded as an unapplied payment.
Show ERA summary in MDC Home / Automatically look for new ERA files
If you are downloading remittance files (835 files), you can have the MDC Home area display the number of remits and automatically scan the remits folder for new files.
Remember Previous Settings for new Patients
Check this box to auto fill data for new patients. The data will be based on the most recently added new patient. The following data is automatically inserted:
· Diagnosis
· Facility
· Physician
· Referring Physician
When adding new patients, prompt user if a new claim should be created right away
When this box is checked MDC will automatically move to the claim screen when you add a new patient.
Signature Dates
Check this box to set Patient Privacy dates for new patients to the current date. These dates are shown in the Notes tab of the patient demographic screen.
Filter Patient Center by Facility
Check this box if your database has patients that are members of different facilities and you wish to filter the patient center with the selected facility.
When this box is checked, the facility that is selected for the Patient List is used as a filter for the patients that show in the Patient Center. The facility filter is also automatically applied to the following reports and lists:
· Claims to Print List
· Claims to Post List
· Invoices to Print List
· Daily Charges (shown in the Patient Center)
· Daily Payments (shown in the Patient Center)
Note: The intent of this feature is to organize the Patient Center with patients that originate from the same facility. The facility filter uses the Patient Facility Name as opposed to the Facility that is selected when a claim is created. In most cases, these are the same facility.
